Magic Timber -
A cold-weather, high-capacity Field System built for long days in steep, deep, wild terrain.
Based on the Magic Mule platform, it emphasizes capacity, practicality, and freedom of movement for big traverses, long climbs, and full-block field days. Storage is distributed vertically and laterally to stay stable under movement, while keeping frequently used items accessible without breaking rhythm.
This is a system for the cursed ones. Grey dawn to grey dusk.
ANSI Class 1, Type O
Built on a compliant high-visibility platform designed around modular expansion, high-capacity storage, and movement in rough terrain.
Structured, High-Capacity Build
Built around the Magic Mule frame, this system provides more load capacity than the Big Hug platform while preserving mobility and adjustability through the shoulders, waist, and torso.
Designed for sustained carry in steep, uneven, brushy, or snow-covered terrain.
Outer fabric is 1000D laminated polyester. Inner fabric is 1000D ballistic nylon.
Substantial. Stable. Practical. Not a floppy vest.
Complete Integrated System
Configured around the following components:
- Magic Mule Vest Frame
- Admin Pouch (Front / Top)
- Brick Pouch (Front / Center)
- Gloven Handwarmer Pouch (Front Drop)
- Half Moon Pouches (Left & Right Side Drops)
- Radio Holster
- Waist Management Pouch (Rear Drop)
- Hydration Bladder / Insulated Hose (1.5L TPU)
Balanced as a complete cold-weather load-bearing system.
Admin Pouch
Front / Top
High-access organization for the small items that typically disappear.
Ideal for:
- pencils / markers
- maps
- phone
- compass
- clino
- GPS
- lighters
- small tools
- vapes, darts, chew
The Admin Pouch keeps the thinking tools accessible without sacrificing the main storage zones.
Brick Pouch
Front / Center
Primary front storage positioned on the centerline for stable, immediate access.
Useful for:
- flagging
- batteries
- gloves
- compact tools
- snacks
- tape
- daily carry items
This is the main working pouch. Dense, simple, reachable.
Gloven Handwarmer Pouch
Front Drop
Eventually, every field worker finds themselves standing in sleet trying to manipulate something tiny with numb fingers. So heres a low-mounted handwarmer pouch built for sub-zero bare-finger tasks.
The Gloven provides a warm passthrough zone for restoring dexterity between tasks, while also functioning as soft-access storage for gloves, toque, neck tube, or other cold-weather essentials.
It features an outer zip with a deceptively large storage capacity, and two small mesh pockets inside for handwarmer packets.
For thinking, fiddling, and thawing.
Dual Half Moon Side Drops
Left & Right
Two Half Moon pouches mounted on the side drops distribute storage laterally while preserving movement through the chest and shoulders.
Useful for:
- additional flagging colours
- sample bags
- tools
- food
- batteries
- gloves
- weather-sensitive items
- overflow field gear
Side-drop storage helps keep the front working zone usable while increasing total capacity.
All flagging colours on deck.
Dedicated Radio Holster
Stable, accessible radio carry integrated into the system layout.
Keeps communication gear available without stealing space from the primary pouches or interfering with the main front storage.
Waist Management Rear Drop
Rear drop storage for overflow gear, food, layers, or items that need to come along but do not need constant front access.
Moves bulk away from the chest while maintaining balance across the system.
Useful for the seldom-used essentials.
Full Passthrough Front Storage
The Magic Mule frame includes front passthrough pockets with internal organization for weather-sensitive gear.
Useful for keeping tablets, large maps, soft goods, gloves, electronics, or small essentials protected, organized and close to the body.
Full Passthrough Rear Storage
The rear frame compartment provides additional protected storage with a large internal partition for organization.
Designed for layers, soft goods, field supplies, and larger weather-sensitive items that need to stay contained without occupying the main pouch layout.
Internal Water Bladder Capacity
The rear compartment includes internal hydration bladder capacity with a hanging hook and hose port.
Rummaging for the loose nalgene amongst all your other garbage in the back is due for a re-think.
Removable Foam Ventilation
Padded airflow channels front and back reduce contact area and drastically improves comfort during sustained movement.
The Magic Timber is built for cold-weather capacity, but still needs to manage heat during climbs.
Dual Attachment System
MOLLE rails + drop-flap mounts support multiple attachment styles and configurations.
Supports high-capacity pouch layouts while maintaining system balance and modularity.
Freely compatible with standard MOLLE products.
Quick-Release Side Buckles
Fast and secure on/off entry system.
Only one buckle needs to open for donning / doffing.
Adjustable Fit
The Magic Mule frame features adjustable width and height. If your waist is between 28" and 42", it will fit you very well.
Cold-Weather Capability
Magic Timber is built for poor-weather work, It supports movement, climbing, storage, hydration, hand warmth, and full-day field carry in difficult conditions.
Distinctive, Original Design
The Magic Timber was designed as a complete high-capacity Field System for demanding terrain and long days away from the truck. A stable, modular, cold-capable system built around capacity, movement, and practical access to the tools that keep the mill fed.
Pre-Order Note
Your order funds the first production run and will ship after manufacturing is complete.
Pre-orders support manufacturing, materials, and the first full-scale release of the Magic Timber Field System
Pre-order pricing is first-run pricing. Prices will increase after the pre-order window closes (and yet, still well worth it).
